December heralds the end of the year. Resolution list from last January in hand, I review my results. Each year I identify one area for improvement. For me, a single resolution, made with intent, beats a collection of promises I won’t keep.

A song of the Farseen Chronicles. There are no plot spoilers in this story.
Valiant, Tempe’s brother, has been dead a long time. This is a song sung by the fae bards of a dragon made sword he received around the age of twenty. Dragons have the strongest magic of all creatures in the Farseen and anything they make shares at least some of that magic.
A beautiful December day in North Carolina called to me, “Come, hike. You know you’ll love it.”
I responded with boots, gloves, and a wrap, singing, “Into the woods.”

Lucas stood in the middle of the kitchen with his hands on his hips and glared at the crime scene. The pie pans that had housed three perfectly baked desserts contained nothing but crumbs. He looked to the left into the sunroom where the guys played Pirates of Catan. He wouldn’t put it past his friends to invade the kitchen during his punishment.
After a hectic month I finally got back out on a trail.
50,000+ words before the 22nd of November. I would like to say my brilliance was the cause, but I’m going with honesty.

So far, so good. I’m currently ahead of the curve in word count. 8,000+ words ahead in fact. This is necessary as I will have trouble meeting the daily count for a couple of days around Thanksgiving. I’m working on Pyxis,the second book in the Finding Earth series. (The first book, Cetus Landing, was drafted in NaNoWriMo 2015 and will be published 1st Quarter 2017.)
