Logan twisted and pushed Lucas back, “It’s your question. You ask.”

Stretched out in the sunroom, Bryce hid his smile, but didn’t look up from the seriously disappointing book in his hands. He would welcome the interruption.

Spoiler Alert. This flash fiction takes place before the Freed Fae War in the second half of Deceived, Book 1 in the Farseen Chronicles.

FC ByAnyOtherName“You were so brave to go to the Farseen. And you saw unicorns,” Cinnamon said as they walked down the street.

As soon as they were away from their human friends, Cinnamon and her brothers demanded an account of Willow’s trip to the Farseen. They had rushed to finish setting up their Science Fair projects after school but still missed the bus; so they headed to Bryce’s office for a ride home, as they had been instructed. The new rules aggravated the young shape shifters but even they knew they weren’t equal to fighting adult fae on the hunt.

Mitch approached her with the confidence of a six-year-old addressing a trusted adult.  Few adults would have interrupted her when she was growling over her laptop.  Fewer would have asked a question.

Just a Little Me Time

My mother-in-law decided that I needed some ‘me’ time.  Well, it sounded good in theory so I set aside this weekend to work on my book, cover art, and all the little details I need to complete to publish.  Friday night started off well.  My daughter made dinner while I had a glass of wine and watched Frozen for the first time.  Notice that no ‘me’ work got done, but it was a fun family evening.
